Abstract
A novel hybrid drive that uses both linear induction motor (LIM) and linear synchronous motor (LSM) is presented. This motor consists of the primary winding energized by variable frequency supplies and the secondary having an additional solid-conductor besides the electromagnet. The effectiveness of the motor for practical use is demonstrated via experiment and finite element analysis.
