Photonic crystal lasers for computercom applications

We present current-injection photonic-crystal lasers with the world's lowest energy cost of 5.5 fJ/bit to provide on-chip/off-chip optical interconnection. We also demonstrate monolithically integrated optical links employing these lasers and photodiodes.
