Productivity and indoor environmental quality of research institution with refreshment and communication area

    Abstract

    Recently, the importance of refreshment and communication for workers' productivity has received increasing attention. In this study, to determine the indoor environmental quality and workers' productivity, field measurements and questionnaire surveys were conducted in both workplaces and public spaces regarding refreshment and communication. The results indicated that workers were satisfied with the environment of their workplaces. Workers were also satisfied with the environment of frequently used public spaces, especially in terms of lighting and layout. Additionally, it was revealed that high-frequency users were more satisfied with the environment of the whole building and felt that it was easier to work there compared to low frequency users.
