Proper treatment of the zero mode in quantum field theory for trapped Bose-Einstein condensation

    Abstract

    A formulation of QFT for BEC system in a trap is presented. The formulation can be extended straightforwardly to thermal field theory to include thermal fluctuation as well. The scheme is more fundamental than the mean-field approximation and the Bogoliubov approach.
