Abstract

The authors present the algorithm and hardware implementation for a PSK group modem. Each PSK signal is effectively filtered by digital signal processing techniques applied to the digital transmultiplexer. A table-look-up method and an adaptive rate conversion filter are adopted to compensate for the difference between the operation timing of the modem and the symbol timing of each input/output data signal. An experimental modem has been implemented, fully utilizing symmetrical structures between the modulator and demodulator. Measurements results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the hardware under various conditions.
