Abstract
It has been reported that to obtain the quantities of vacuum residues in heavy oils by thermogravimetric analysis is difficult because of the degradation of heavy oils and the formation of cokes that will occur during the measurements. In this paper, however, it is shown that thermogravimetric measurement under vacuum makes it possible to determine both the quantities of vacuum residues and boiling point distributions of heavy oils at the same time.
