Abstract
40 Gbit/s-based transoceanic transmission was achieved by introducing various kinds of technologies to suppress the nonlinear effects in the transmission fiber, including fiber dispersion management, distributed Raman amplified, modified modulation format and powerful FEC codes. The possibility of enhancing the practicality and commercial viability of 40 Gbit/s-based transoceanic systems further was emphasized.
