Abstract

The reliability of quarter wavelength shifted DFB lasers has been evaluated by long-term tests of 230 samples fabricated on a mass-production basis. Stable long-term side-mode suppression after 6500 hour operation, and a failure rate of less than 34 fits were confirmed.
