Abstract

We developed the SMO (Spastic Measurement orthosis) in order to measure the feature of spasticity by the paralysis of stroke. Because we focused on patients suffering from hemiplegies stroke in order to develop a design method of an AFO, which fit patients even more. Experiment method : Experiment system was consisted combining 3D Video Tracking system of 12CCD-camera and 8 force plates and SMO. Subjects of the experiment were conducted by healthy person and four stroke persons. Each subject who wore the SMO walked on the floor reaction force by usual walk. Experiment Result : Each subject's ankle joint moment was calculated and these experiments data were evaluated by comparison of the moment of SMO and foot angle at the Heel contact, paying attention to heel contact required for orthosis prescription. The possibility in order to determine of requirements for the design orthosis was suggested from these experiment results.
