Sideband generation using electro-optic modulation for micro- and millimeter-wave photonics

Abstract

We describe electro-optic modulation techniques for high-speed signal generation. Double sideband suppressed carrier (DSB-SC) can generate optical two-tone signals which are useful for high-frequency signal generation. We also discuss high-order sideband generation techniques which can provide very high-frequency components from low-frequency modulation signals: quadruple DSB-SC (QDSB-SC) modulation and reciprocating optical modulation (ROM).
