Abstract

This paper reviews speech-quality assessment methods for new speech-coding systems. In order to assess speech quality quantitatively, it is important to determine how quality assessment measure is chosen. First, subjective speech-quality assessment measures are described in relation to a kind of coding system and speech quality. Second, objective quality measures are described to effectively design coding systems and communications networks. Finally, the speech quality to typical new speech-coding systems is described.
