Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the performances of the Medium Access Control protocol Multi-slot-ALOHA in a wireless ad hoc network modelled by a Poisson Point Process (PPP). By giving to nodes access to the medium for several time slots, Multislot ALOHA strengthens the reliability of transmissions, which is the main weakness of MAC protocols without acknowledgements. To our knowledge, this protocol has not been the subject of a stochastic analysis of its performances yet, hence the motivation for the present work. All the approximate theoretical expressions proposed in this paper are verified by comparison to simulated data.
