Abstract
The impact of the inter-pulse relative optical phase in optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) signals on long-distance 40 Gbit/s transmission performance was investigated. The transmission performance between OTDM and conventional 40 Gbit/s carrier-suppressed (CS)-RZ signals was compared. It was found that the OTDM CS-RZ signals had superb large tolerance in pulse generation process.
