Abstract
The study of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and dispersion tolerance of 20 Gbit/s vestigial-sideband (VSB)-RZ optical signal was presented. The performance degradation of 20 Gbit/s double-sideband (DSB)-RZ and VSB-RZ signals were compared against PMD/PDL and dispersion compensation error. Results showed that the VSB-RZ signal had similar tolerance for first-order PMD with better tolerance for dispersion.
