Abstract

Underdoped YBa2Cu3Oy crystals were grown in a yttria crucible by the Cu-Ba enriched self-flux method. The resulting polycrystals were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), iodometry, and weight loss measurements. The carrier-concentration-driven superconductor-to-insulator (SI) transition as well as the transport properties of the crystals were determined.
