Abstract

The development of new gene delivery technologies is required using novel nonviral lipid. In this paper, we synthesized new cationic lipids from amino acids. Our synthesized cationic lipids have glutamic acid skeleton at hydrophobic part and have amino acid such as lysine and histidine, arginine at hydrophilic part. We investigated physicochemical properties of the lipid assemblies. This synthesized lipids formed vesicle in water. We reported the synthetic methods of new cationic lipids and evaluated characteristics of cationic lipids with TEM and fluorescent-labeled method. Furthermore, we preparated cationic liposome using the synthesized amino lipids as a part of membrane components.
