Abstract

A system for simulating the cutting process by use of a geometric modelling system, is described. The process is simulated geometrically in a modelling system. The cutting torque is estimated with an empirical equation, including the volume of the removed material and the tool-workpiece contact surface area obtained by the geometrical simulation. The system is useful for NC program verification and generation of reference data for monitoring system.
