Abstract

This chapter discusses the initial value problem for the Boltzmann equation. The problem concerning the existence of global solutions of the problem in a neighborhood of a Maxwellian is studied. The key of the problem is to get a suitable decay estimate for the linearized Boltzmann equation around the Maxwellian.
