The effects of electric charges and air velocity on sampling efficiency of simple monitoring method for fungal contamination

Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a simple monitoring method called 'PaFS' (Passive Fungi Sampler) for assessing indoor fungal contamination. In this study, the effects on sampling efficiency of electric charges on the sampling face and air velocity against the sampling face were examined. Also field measurements in 73 bedrooms were conducted to identify the validity of the PaFS in situ measurements. It was found that the PaFS could judge the categories in European guidelines for houses when the concentration of air-borne fungi was high.
