Abstract
The use of clay walls on bamboo lathing less burdens on the environment, but it is necessary to confirm their properties in order to use this wall construction method more widely in safety. This paper aims to clarify the influence of the behaviors of plastering layers of clay walls upon their mechanical characteristics and fracture behaviors. Two experiments were conducted, element experiments and structural experiments. As a result, clay wails of high initial stiffness can be achieved by avoiding gaps around the resistance elements. However, such wails tend to develop delamination at the interface of layers that are difficult to repair.
