Abstract

Thermally stable coupled granular continuous (CGC) perpendicular recording media with Pt-rich CoPtCr layer was studied. The CGC shows the robust thermal stability without compromising signal to noise (SNR) ratio. Results showed that CGC showed 25% higher output (10 kfci) and 10% higher resolution compared to the plain granular medium.
