    Abstract

As the desiccant air-conditioning system works in various conditions, we need to understand the performance of desiccant air-conditioning system with wide range of driving conditions. But now we haven't grasped even characteristics of the desiccant wheel that is the most important component in the desiccant air-conditioning system. So far, in order to clarify the performance of the desiccant wheel, we have developed the simulation model for the desiccant wheel and also carried out the experiment of the desiccant wheel with wide range of designing and operating conditions. As a result, the validity of the simulation model was confirmed because the simulation results agree with experimental ones well with wide range of design and operating conditions. In this study, in order to clarify more detailed heat and mass transfer performance of the desiccant wheel, we visualized temperature and concentration distribution inside the desiccant wheel by the simulation. As a result, we clarified the temperature and humidity ratio distribution of the process and regeneration air in the air channel, and the temperature and water content distribution in the desiccant wall that are difficult to show by the experiment.
