Abstract
XPS measurements were performed on the Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d system prepared by the LPE method using melts with compositions Bi:Sr:Ca:Cu = (2 - x) : 2 : (1 + x) : 2 for 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2. The peak decompositions of Sr3d and Ca2p XPS spectra, together with the EPMA results, elucidated the occupancies of Bi, Sr and Ca atoms on the BiO-, SrO- and Ca-layers. The x dependences of the lattice parameter c and the superconducting critical temperature Tc are explained by the changes of the excess oxygens in the BiO layer.
