抄録

This study examined a voice navigation system as an assistive device for visually impaired in a busy urban environment. Eleven volunteers participated in this social experiment and evaluated the system for their daily solo-walking. Although there were some shortfalls of the system, participants expressed their interest in using it in the future. This test also aimed at assessing tightly configured street through the lens of Universal Design for future improvement. This article concluded that use of an assistive device works as a complement to achieve a higher level of accessibility where the physical environment could not offer an ideal environment.
