We realized simple fabrication of carbon nanotube field emitters for backlight units. Carbon nanotubes were directly grown on cathode lines patterned on low-strain glasses by atmospheric pressure CVD with pulse electrical heating of cathodes for 1 second. Field emission current density was as high as 5.6 mA/cm2 at 3.3 V/μm.
