Analysis of heart-rate fluctuation during exercise

This paper investigates the implication in the analyses of heart-rate fluctuations during exercise in order to assess the anaerobic threshold (AT). Spectral analysis has been regarded to reveal the distinctive effects of the sympathetic and the para-sympathetic drive in the autonomic nervous system. Therefore, the spectral analysis would be appreciated as the non-invasive maneuver for detecting the AT if we could suggest the causal relationship between AT and autonomic control system. The Markov chain approach and the dimensional analysis implied the inherent problem that each presupposed that the beat-by-beat variations of heart-rate were purely stochastic or deterministic, respectively. Further investigation should be focused on the relationship between the autonomic control system and the AT, and on the construction of the appropriate models including the control parameter which reflect the exercise intensity.
