Crystalline oriented titania (anatase) thick films have been fabricated by electrophoretic deposition in a strong 12 T magnetic field. Anatase particles in an aqueous suspension are rotated due to their magnetic anisotropy and then deposited on a substrate in a dc electric field. The angle between the directions of the magnetic and electric fields ψB-E is fixed at specified angles (ψB-E = 0, 30, 60 and 90°) during the deposition to control the dominant crystalline orientation of the deposits. The crystalline orientation characterized by the X-ray diffraction for the anatase films proves the orientation dependence of anatase upon the ψB-E angle during the EPD. The crystalline orientation of the anatase films can be controlled by varying the angle of E versus B.
