A computational algorithm has been proposed for dispatching and rescheduling of generation to modify the state of power systems. The power dispatch problems are formulated as a discrete decision process with multiobjectives based on linearized models, and it utilizes multiobjective optimization as a tool for analyzing the control problems with performance indices according to economy and environmental impact, and so forth. The noninferior solutions are obtained by the constraint approach. This technique retains one objective as primary and treats the remaining (n-1) objectives as constraints. The proposed algorithm falls within the category of preventive control, but could be used to improve system security by incorporating security factors into the objectives. Numerical examples in a test system are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach, which is shown to have reliability for on-line application in real power system operations.
