Effect of the revolution rate of an agitator on secondary nucleation rate of potassium alum was studied in a continuous fluidized-bed crystallizer. Nucleation rate increased with revolution rate for the range of comparatively small revolution rate, but beyond some critical value secondary nucleation rate decreased in spite of increase in revolution rate. The meaning of the critical revolution rate affecting secondary nucleation rate is discussed in comparison with contact nucleation rate studied by Larsons, and industrial applications of the phenomenon are also considered.
