Crystallographic features of the orbital-ordered state in the layered perovskite manganite Sr2-xPrxMnO4

The crystallographic features of Sr2-xPrxMnO4 samples, prepared by a coprecipitation method, have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy to understand their electronic states for 0.10≤x≤0.30. The orbital-ordered (OO) state lacking charge ordering existed for 0.10≤x≤0.25, and accompanied C-type antiferromagnetic (CAF) ordering at lower temperatures. It was also found that the suppression of CAF ordering occurred in a variant with smaller orthorhombicity, which is one of two variants forming a banded domain structure in the OO state.
