Effective optimal power flow with transient stability constraints by using the functional transformation techniques

    Optimal power flow with transient stability constraints (OTS) is useful to analyze the reliability and the stability of the system and to evaluate the effectiveness of control actions. However this is a nonlinear optimization problem with infinite dimensions, which is difficult to be solved precisely even for a small dimensions power system. So in this paper, we propose a new transformation technique which converts infinite dimensional OTS exactly into a finite dimensional optimization problem. The transformed OTS problem has the same variables as those of OPF in form, and is tractable even for the large scale power systems with a large number of transient stability constraints, Moreover, in order to show the validity of the proposed technique, the amount of calculations was compared with the conventional technique.
