The effects of water hammer phenomena on artificial heart drive systems are studied in three types of circulatory model. Results are as follows: (1) the largest water hammer surge was recorded when the pump was driven at full stroke condition and it decreased rapidly during systolic duration; (2) the level of water hammer depended on the maximum flow back rate of the values.
