Effects of introducing task/ambient system with ceiling radiation membrane on productivity

Subjective experiment was conducted in a climate chamber introducing task/ambient conditioning system with ceiling radiation membrane system. Effect of indoor environment and physiological factors on productivity was examined. The experimental conditions were set to study the difference of introducing cooling system. Subjects were worked on simulated office task each for fifteen minutes. Before the exposure, subjects were asked to go up down steps. Questionnaires for thermal environment and perceived air quality (hereinafter called PAQ) were asked after simulated office task sessions. In addition, local skin wettedness of chest was measured. During the first part of the experiment, local skin wettedness of male subjects was significantly decreased and also thermal and PAQ satisfaction of male subjects significantly improved. It was confirmed that productivity with task/ambient conditioning system with ceiling radiation membrane system was higher than with conventional general conditioning system, because of the improvement of thermal and PAQ satisfaction.
