The effects of acetophenone, α-methylstyrene, and cumylalcohol on the space charge evolution in polyethylene (PE) were compared by measuring charge distributions and dc conduction currents in soaked PE sheets. Additive-free low-density polyethylene (LDPE) sheets were used as samples. Space charge distribution was measured using the pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method at room temperature. Overall, significant results were obtained.
