ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTIVITY MEASUREMENT OF MOLTEN COPPER MATTE.

    Electrical-conductivities of synthetic molten copper mattes (Cu//2S-FeS-FeO pseudo-ternary system) at 1150, 1200 and 1250 degree C, were measured by four terminal cells method under controlled sulphur and oxygen pressures. Results of electrical-conductivity measurements are as follows: (1) Specific conductivities measured were from 15 to 200 S/cm at these temperatures and oxygen contents of 0 to 4. 5 mole-percent. (2) Temperature dependence of specific conductivities are positive for all matte samples, which is good indication that mechanism of electrical-conduction is semi-conductive. (3) Specific conductivities increase as the iron-to-copper ratio increases and the effect of osygen content (FeO) in mattes is not apparent until critical oxygen pressure of 10** minus **1**0**. **0 atm. but beyond this pressure, conductivities increase significantly.
