Evaluation methods for seismic performance of stiffened steel box members with fiber model

The fiber model which is one kind of frame analysis methods is sometimes used as an effective tool for nonlinear dynamic analysis because of its ability to consider 2 axis bending moment and varying axial force easily. Recently, a seismic evaluation method which adopts the strain for evaluating the seismic performance of steel box members was proposed. However, it is thought that this previous method has some issues to be improved and is not adequate for evaluating the seismic performance of steel box members. In this study, the validity of the previous method was investigated and a new method for evaluating the seismic performance was proposed for hollow stiffened steel box members. Finally, the validity of the proposed method was confirmed by comparing evaluation results by the proposed method with experimental data and FEM analysis data.
