Evaluation of odors from wooden materials and reference substances using Dynamic Odor Bottle

抄録

The purpose of this study is to develop a more simple and easy-to-use method that can evaluate odor from numerous building materials by panels. It leads our research group to develop the Dynamic Odor Bottle Method, which consists of ready-made 12 glass bottles, air compressor and diverging device. This method can evaluate 12 materials simultaneously and doesn't require complicated operation. This paper reports on the results of panel test on acetone, n-butanol, four reference odorants, and four kinds of wooden materials by altering their loading factors in five steps, 0.4L/h of air was supplied to the 1.8L glass bottles with Sniffing Port. The result showed that by using the newly suggested devices, S hedonics and acceptability could show clears correlation with odor concentration than the existing method.
