Evaluation of thermal comfort and energy conservation of heat pump desiccant systems

The main objective of this study is to evaluate thermal comfort and energy conservation of heat pump desiccant systems which separately controls sensible heat and latent heat. A subjective experiment was conducted in an office installing this system. The experimental conditions were set to study the difference of two air-conditioning systems: the conventional multi type air-conditioning systems and the heat pump desiccant systems. Eighteen subjects participated in a 190-minutes exposure and worked on three sessions of multiplication and text typing tasks. The physical parameters of the indoor environment and energy consumption of the equipment were measured throughout the experiment. From the results, total energy consumption of the desiccant heat pump systems was lower than that of the conventional multi type air-conditioning systems. Performance of text typing task in the condition of the desiccant heat pump systems was tended to be higher than that in the condition of the conventional multi type air-conditioning systems.
