To accurately evaluate the thermal environment during sleep, it is necessary to consider the influence of body movements. In this study an experiment in a climate chamber and a field survey in actual bedrooms was conducted. In the experiment, the thermal insulation with various combinations of sleeping postures and bedclothes, and the heat flux on the back were measured. By considering the thermal insulation and the heat conduction during sleeping, the accuracy of the thermal environment evaluation improved. As a result, it was found that there was a significant increase in wake after sleep onset away from thermal neutral.
