Fluid-structure interaction modeling of ringsail parachute clusters

The team for advanced flow simulation and modeling (TBlack starAFSM) has successfully addressed many of the computational challenges involved in fluid-structure interaction (FSI) modeling of ringsail parachutes, including the geometric complexities, and recently started addressing the challenges related to the contact between the parachutes of a cluster. This is being accomplished with the stabilized space-time FSI technique, which was developed by the TBlack starAFSM and serves as the core numerical technology, and the special techniques developed by the TBlack starAFSM. We present the results obtained with the FSI computation of parachute clusters and the related dynamical analysis.
