Framework for computer assisted life-cycle maintenance system

Based on the analysis of the requirements for life-cycle maintenance, a framework for computer assisted life-cycle maintenance system (CALMS) is proposed. Its a computer integrated system consistent from design to disuse of the facility. Its important function is to select the optimum maintenance strategy based on the prediction of deteriorations. This enables the system to adapt maintenance activities to the various changes which occur during the facility life-cycle. The mechanism of deterioration prediction is proposed by means of the concept of elementary deterioration processes and combined deterioration processes. A logic tree is also developed for the selection of proper maintenance strategies from the aspect of deterioration patterns.
