N2 - The authors describe the Group 3 facsimile transmission scheme over the digital cellular network. The communication control system is in the transparent mode, for communication of G3 facsimile without the flow control method in the digital cellular network, where the mobile switching center (MSC) is provided with only the rate adaptation function for interconnection between the digital cellular network and the PSTN (public switched telephone network) with the communication procedure to be performed by both terminals. The G3 facsimile evaluation result at a burst circuit bit error rate (BER) of 3 × 10-2 has no degradation using the convolutional code as the error correction code between the MSC and the mobile station.
