N2 - We studied the impact of pump failure on gain modulation dynamics in 80nm-band high power Raman amplifier and found that the failure of shorter wavelength unmodulated pump significantly affects the signal modulation index. We also found that the modulation frequency should be higher than 10kHz to reduce the impact of pump failure.
