In vitro selection of novel peptide agonists for human somatostatin receptor subtype-2 using a water-in-oil microdroplet platform

Here we present an in vitro selection method to obtain peptide agonists for G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) using a water-in-oil (W/O) microdroplet platform. Using this method, we successfully identified novel peptide agonists for human somatostatin receptor subtype-2 (SSTR2) from a library of partially randomized SST sequences. This result demonstrates that our method will be a powerful platform for identifying novel peptide agonists for human GPCRs with known and unknown endogenous ligands.
