    Indoor air quality of homes, workplaces, public buildings, and cabins of transportation vehicles plays an essential role in the health and well-being of individuals. During recent decades, interest in indoor air research increased significantly as is reflected in the increasing number of scientific publications and international standards. Various ambient (outdoor) air quality standards and regulations have been established within many countries to protect public health. However, indoor air quality standards with legally binding force are scarce. Currently, consumer demand is helping to drive manufacturers using product labels indicating so-called "low emissions" as a marketing tool.
