Internet audio technologies and application services: Real-time music transmission and distribution by TwinVQ

We have developed a real-time transmission and distribution system of hi-fi music on the assumption that it will be run on best effort type networks such as OCN and the Internet, which do not guarantee bandwidth. By applying the TwinVQ* 1 technology to compress and encode music, we have succeeded in reducing the amount of data to be transmitted to between one fifteenth to one ninetieth while limiting deterioration in sound quality to a certain extent. The TwinVQ software has been introduced to a range of application services for a large number of customers as the multimedia platform NTT provides.
