A cationic polyelectrolyte of various poly(arylenesulfonium salt)s were coated on the surface of glassy carbon electrodes with an incorporated ferricyanide anion from the electrolyte solutions. The apparent diffusion coefficients of Fe(CN)63- that are electrostatically bound were determined by chronoamperometry, chronocoulometry and mediated electron transfer from the rotating disk voltammetry. The complex incorporated by the S-cationic polyelectrolyte shows a high diffusion coefficient for the polyelectrolyte of poly(methylsufonio-1,4-phenylenethio-1,4-phenylene trifluoro-methanesulfonate). The diffusion of poly(arylenesulfonio triflate) depended on the ionic exchange of the S-cation which has an alkyl bond and the crystalline structure that influenced the electrostatic motion of the anion within the polyelectrolyte modified electrode.
