抄録

A novel polymer structure combining ladder-type tri(para-phenylene) (LPP) and oligo(phenylenevinylene) (OPV) segments in orthogonal arrangement is synthesized. An orthogonal structure decreases the quenching processes of excitons by preventing the aggregation of the OPV units, thus increasing the electroluminescence quantum efficiency and device stability. Fully conjugated ladder-type polymer, a poly(para-phenylene)-type ribbon or ladder-PPP (LPPP) is important in polyarylene chemistry. It is possible to design efficient multicolor, polymer-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on LPPP-type materials. The set of attractive properties has established LPPP as a widely used material for organic polymer-based optical and electro-optical materials.
