Lineflow congestion elimination using generator power flow tracing method

    The concept of "power flow tracing" between generators and loads has been discussed for determining wheeling rates of newcomers under deregulated environments. In this paper, we focus on "Distance DC method", which is one of tracing methods based on DC flow calculation, and thus we firstly propose a new generator power flow tracing method using lineflow sensitivities of bus powers and the distance DC network. Both generator-to-load contributions and generator-to-lineflow contributions are obtained from the proposed method. Secondly, we propose an application of the proposed tracing method for congestion elimination of transmission lines. We run numerical simulations using an eleven bus system and verify the validity of the proposed methods.
