Lipidheme vesicles and hemoglobin vesicles as dioxygen infusion

The structure, physicochemical properties, O2-binding ability of lipidheme vesicles and hemoglobin (Hb) vesicles were evaluated. The solution properties of lipidheme vesicles and Hb-vesicles are low in comparison to blood, due to their small sizes. The O2-binding rate of Hb is affected by encapsulation. In fact, the O2-association of Hb vesicles is slower than that of Hb itself, but faster than that of the red blood cell. Since the lipidheme locates in the bilayer membrane, lipidheme shows a faster O2-binding rate constant than Hb. Inspite of structural differences, both materials can act as dioxygen infusion.
